The Five Faculties – conviction, persistence, mindfulness, concentration, and discernment – are a list of qualities that the Buddha said are essential for awakening. They cover both the practice of meditation and the conduct in daily life in a way conducive to release from suffering.
This course, through talks, readings, discussions, and meditation will treat the practical aspects of how to develop these faculties both off the cushion and on.
Study Notes will be available for you to print and bring to the retreat.
Ajaan Geoff is a senior monk in the Thai Forest tradition of Theravada Buddhism and the abbot of Metta Forest Monastery in San Diego County, CA. Appreciated equally for his scholarship and pragmatic approach to practice, he is deeply committed to helping others understand and apply the Buddha’s teachings.
The Victoria IMS is honoured that Ajaan Geoff will offer teachings in Victoria, BC.
