2014/04/15Victoria Buddhism in Recovery Meeting

Buddhism in Recovery (B12)
We meet at the Friary, 1076 Joan Crescent, the first and third Wednesday of the month
from 7:30 to 9:00pm.

We are a group of people in recovery who meet to discuss Buddhism and recovery.
We support the use of Buddhist teachings, traditions and practices to help people recover from the suffering caused by addictive behaviours. The meetings are open to people of all backgrounds and respectful of all recovery paths. We promote mindfulness and meditation and are grounded in the Buddhist principles of non-harming, compassion and interdependence. (adapted fromĀ https://www.buddhistrecovery.org.)

We encourage our members to stay active in the recovery program of their choice.
This group is considered a supplement to our 12 step or other program.

The meetings are 1.5 hours and consist of a meditation (approx. 20 mins.) a Buddhist reading (approx. 20 mins.) and then time for sharing. opening followed by a 20 minute meditation. There is then a 20 minute talk or reading followed by time for sharing. Please bring your own beverage. This meeting is by donation, with proceeds going to the Friary
